It’s Not “Just in Your Head”

You’re in the middle of an intimate moment—and suddenly, the anxiety creeps in. What if it doesn’t happen? What if it happens too soon? What if… it doesn’t happen at all?

For millions of men, erectile dysfunction (ED) isn’t just a physical issue—it’s emotional. It can affect your relationships, self-esteem, and mental health. And often, it shows up when you least expect it: after surgery, with age, or even during stressful periods.

Quick Facts About Erectile Dysfunction:

At Alpine Compounding Pharmacy, we understand how complex ED can be. That’s why we provide customised, clinically backed treatments—including Trimix injections—to help restore your confidence and your quality of life.

What Is Erectile Dysfunction (ED)?

Erectile dysfunction is the inability to get or maintain an erection firm enough for sexual activity. It can be occasional or chronic, and while it’s more common with age, it’s not a “normal” part of aging that you have to accept.

Common Causes of ED:

  • Cardiovascular disease and high blood pressure
  • Diabetes or insulin resistance
  • Obesity and metabolic syndrome
  • Low testosterone (Low T)

If low testosterone is contributing to your ED, we also offer customised Testosterone Replacement Therapy as part of our men’s health services.

  • Stress, depression, or anxiety
  • Side effects of medications (e.g., antidepressants, blood pressure meds)
  • Smoking, alcohol, or drug use
  • Nerve damage or pelvic surgery (e.g., prostatectomy)

The Emotional Impact of ED

ED affects more than just physical intimacy. It often leads to:

  • Avoidance of sexual activity
  • Anxiety and performance fear
  • Relationship strain
  • Feelings of guilt, shame, or inadequacy
  • Depression or loss of self-worth

Treatment Options for ED

Every patient is different, and so are the treatment paths. Some of the most common therapies include:

  • Oral Medications (e.g., Viagra, Cialis, Levitra)
First-line therapy, but not always effective—especially after prostate surgery or in men with diabetes.
  • Testosterone Replacement Therapy
For men with low testosterone contributing to ED.
  • Penile Pumps or Implants
Mechanical devices for severe or unresponsive cases.
  • Injection Therapy (like Trimix)
Directly delivers medication to erectile tissue when oral medications fail or aren’t appropriate.

What Is Trimix?

Trimix is a sterile, injectable medication used to treat moderate to severe ED. It’s a compounded formulation that includes:

  • Alprostadil – Relaxes blood vessels and smooth muscles
  • Papaverine – A vasodilator that helps increase blood flow.
  • Phentolamine – Enhances the effects of the other agents.

Together, these ingredients help increase blood flow directly to the penis, producing a natural-feeling, sustainable erection—often even when pills haven’t worked.

How Trimix Is Administered

Trimix is injected into the side of the penis using a very fine needle. While this might sound intimidating, most men find it surprisingly quick and manageable after brief instruction.

âś” Injections typically take 5 to 15 minutes to take effect
âś” Erections usually last 30 to 90 minutes
âś” Can be used up to 3 times per week, with at least 24 hours between doses

You’ll receive full instructions on safely administering the injection during your pharmacy consultation.

Who Is Trimix For?

Trimix is ideal for men who:

  • Don’t respond well to oral ED medications
  • Have had prostate surgery or diabetes-related ED
  • Want a more predictable, rapid-onset option
  • Are looking for a non-systemic treatment (no pills to swallow)

Contraindications & Safety

Do NOT use Trimix if you are:

  • Currently using other ED medications (e.g., Viagra, Cialis, Levitra)
  • On blood thinners or have bleeding disorders
  • Allergic to any of the active ingredients
  • Not cleared by your physician for sexual activity due to heart disease or other serious conditions

Important Safety Notes:

  • Don’t use Trimix more than 3 times per week
  • Do not re-dose within 24 hours, even if you don’t achieve an erection
  • If your erection lasts longer than 4 hours, seek emergency care immediately

Possible Side Effects

Most men tolerate Trimix well. Common side effects include:

  • Mild discomfort or bruising at the injection site
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness
  • Rare: hematoma (bleeding under the skin), fibrosis (scar tissue)

Again, these are rare when used properly and under supervision.

How to Store Trimix

  • Freeze your vial immediately upon receiving it
  • Thaw before each use and return to the freezer
  • Can be kept refrigerated for up to 90 days if not frozen
